Nakpodia Residence

The Nakpodia residence is located in a quiet neighborhood off a major commuter route in Silver Spring, Maryland. The lot is filled with mature maples over fifty feet tall.

The owner wanted a house that he could act as general contractor and that could be built with relative ease.

We developed a simple parti that separated the public areas (down stairs) and the private areas (upstairs). We used this use demarcation as an external, formal expression in the house.

The shed roofs and simple walls with generous openings and skylights(for admission of light deep into all spaces) created a light and airy feel in a cozy wooded setting.

All, except two of the trees on the lot, were left undisturbed.
