A stadium is an opportunity for a city to build a monument to sports. When that sport is football, the stadium takes on a larger than life identity: it is now a cathedral that defines and gives the city its identity.

The location of this stadium in Calabar, Cross River State in Nigeria, gives us the opportunity to establish a symbol that comes from this land and its waters : the fisherman throws his net; we have frozen this motion in time: our inspiration is drawn from the vocation of many in this land.
